Eveleth-Gilbert Amateur Hockey Board

 

Building a Legacy upon a Foundation of Tradition and Excellence. 

Vision Statement: We are committed to creating a unified, informed, and proud body of hockey enthusiasts, both young and old, who will collectively involve themselves with the interests and activities, which perpetuate the organization in a safe, fair and supportive manner.

 

Mission Statement: Our mission is to work to the effort of teaching the game of hockey to the youth members of our organization, while developing supportive meaningful programs and services that will enhance good sportsmanship and value to the youth of the community. The association will at all times protect the integrity of the Eveleth Gilbert Youth Hockey program.

 

Membership: The membership of the association shall consist of parents or guardians of youngsters enrolled in the organization and who are in good standing with the association.

 

Board Membership:

The board member positions will be as follows. The Eveleth Gilbert Joint Recreation Director has the option to hold a director position, if he declines then the president of the Recreation Board may place an officer of the E.G. Joint Recreation board in that position. The E.G. High School Boys Hockey coach will have an option to hold a director position the board, if he declines then he may place his assistant coach in that position. The E.G. High School Girls Hockey coach will have an option to hold a director position the board, if he declines then he may place his assistant coach in that position. There will be 3 elected positions available to members of the EGAHB, who are in good standing. These members will hold the positions of President, Vice president, and Secretary. These positions will be voted on by members at the annual member meeting and the voting will be for the Secretary position, the current Secretary will assume the role of Vice President for the following year and the Vice president will assume the position of President. The positions of Coaches Coordinator will be the first position to be filled by the 6 member board.  The Coaches Coordinator will be the only member elected by the 6 member board who will be voting member of EGAHB. Treasurer and Committees director will be voted on by the 7 member board at the March meeting of directors and will be elected by a majority vote all 7 directors must be in attendance for the vote to commence. The results shall be announced the April Annual meeting of members.

The EGAHB is still accepting applications for  the Treasure and Committees Director Position, if you are interested please contact Dave Kunz.

 

The EGAHB conducted interviews for coaches coordinator position, and the final vote and announcement of the postion will be made after the November board meeting.

 

Coaching Coordinator Position: The Coaching Coordinator will be responsible for the solicitation of qualified and competent coaches at all team levels. The Coaching Coordinator will be responsible for providing continuous opportunities for training and developing coaches' skills, set clear expectations and guidelines for all the associations' coaches to follow and develop a hierarchical system for parents who have questions or complaints. The Coach Coaching Coordinator will also maintain and set schedules for coaches meeting during the season to keep the coaches informed of any Board actions. The Coaching Coordinator will serve as the "ACE" Coordinator, (Association Coaching and Education Coordinator,) for the association. The Coaching Coordinator will also keep the Board of Directors informed of any concerns that may develop during the season that may need Board action. The Coaching Coordinator will be responsible to work with the Head Scheduler to ensure that each team has the required ice needed for that particular level of play. The Coaching Coordinator will also serve on the Infractions Committee. The Coaching Coordinator will be a voting member of the board.

The Program:  The association will create, maintain, evaluate and constantly try to improve on a hockey program that successfully teaches sportsmanship, fundamentals and a drive to be successful to the youth in this organization. The program will include a clinic that stresses the proper technique of skating, a series of progressions or milestones to strive for at each level, a line of communication between the board and coaches to ensure that the coaches are utilizing techniques that maximize both the players full potential, and the time they have with the players on the ice, and  positions within in the program that enable both the board and the coaching coordinator to be aware of the progress and deficiencies during the hockey season.

Hand Books: The board will be responsible in writing and distributing the youth hockey hand books and code of conduct for the winter hockey season. The handbook will be created by the association in conjunction with the Joint Recreation Director and distributed to all members at sign-ups. The handbook contains Player, parent and coaches expectations for the upcoming hockey season. The last page of the handbook must be removed, signed and turned in to your head coach prior to the commencement of the season.
